# Pact

> Pact is a Slack bot that turns casual promises into tracked commitments between teammates. Both sides see it, both get reminded, nothing gets dropped.

## What Pact Does

Pact creates bilateral accountability inside Slack. When you say "I'll get that to you by Friday," Pact makes it a real commitment — visible to both parties, with automatic reminders, and a clear resolution when it's done.

The core insight: solo commitments fail because no one is watching. Pact makes someone watching the default.

## How It Works

1. `/pact @teammate` — Create a commitment with a due date and description. Pact DMs both parties to confirm.
2. Both sides see it — The pact appears in both Slack inboxes. No one can claim they forgot.
3. Automatic reminders — Pact sends reminders every 30 minutes in the 24-hour window before and after the due date. A daily digest at 9am ET also surfaces all open pacts each morning.
4. `/done` — Mark the commitment complete. Both sides see the resolution.

You can also message Pact directly in a DM using natural language:
- "I need to send the report to @alice by Thursday"
- "my pacts" — lists your active commitments
- "done" — marks your most recent pact complete
